Northwestern California University Celebrates the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America

John Trumbull, Declaration of Independence, oil on canvas, 1818; placed in the Rotunda of the US Capitol, 1826 — It depicts the moment when the first draft of the Declaration of Independence was presented to the Second Continental Congress on June 28, 1776. The artwork features the five-member drafting committee — John Adams, Roger Sherman, Robert Livingston, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin — presenting their work to the Congress.
